Excelent for price . . .
. . . it would be difficult to find a better portable CD player for the price. Other reviews have mentioned that the machine dies quickly and has low battery life. I have owned this CD player for two months and have only changed the batteries a few times (and I use it almost everyday). There are only a couple of minor quirks: 1) the headphones become distorted if you are listening to something with a lot of bass, even if the volume is low. However, if listening to something with an average amount of bass and treble, the headphone can take a lot more, but you can never have the volume at its max. 2) the car kit is only "ok". The one I received tends to distribute sound unevenly, that is, the music is louder in one set of speakers than the other. I'm assuming the kit has dirty heads because when I clean it it distributes sound a little more evenly, but not completely even, and you can often tell that the sound is leaning to one side. Outside of these two minor glitches, it great, and for the price, you can't find anything better.
Great price but not all it's hyped up to be
I was looking for a CD player to take to the gym. After reading nearly everyone's reviews of this product, I thought I had found the perfectly-priced item. This is a great-looking and great-sounding player, but there are some drawbacks: 1) It takes 40 seconds to load the anti-skip function, and once it's loaded, you can't so much as skip a song, then you have to re-load. 2) Since I'm using this at the gym I use the anti-skip function most of the time, and it appears that is the main reason for short battery life-- I've gone through 3 sets of batteries in about 2 weeks. 3) The anti-skip function just isn't fool-proof. Even when the player is snuggly in my neoprene waist-pack (and I'm not usually wearing the waist pack, but hanging it over the bar of the treadmill, etc.), the vibration from the equipment causes the player to skip, just long enough to get annoying. Sure, I can stand in one place and shake the player all I want, and it won't skip, but this doesn't seem to hold true in real-life situations. But, one must consider the price. You can spend 3x as much for a Sony or Panasonic claiming the same anti-skip features, and probably not get any better of a product. Stick with this one.
GOOD PRICE...GOOD SOUND...GOOD LOOKING
This is an excellent CD player for the money. It is a trim, good looking unit with very decent sound quality. The car pack is an added bonus. The bass boost is great, but when using it in the car with the car pak, you may need to turn down the bass boost to avoid distortion of sound. The sound is otherwise pure and clear.

I know that some reviewers have complained about battery drain, but I play it for hours on the batteries and have yet to need to replace them. The cd player is easy to open and the cd pops right in effortlessly. The headphones are comfortable, and the anti-skip mechanism works like a dream. I have had no trouble with the unit, and I absolutely love it!
